Based on Bram Stoker's Dracula
| WELCOME to a mini tour of "DRACUL - A new
Dracula Musical". I hope you're a theatre patron
who doesn't mind waiting for the curtain to rise (or a vampire
- for the sun to set!)

A MUSICAL SYNOPSIS

"CAN IT BE THAT EASY" - Dracula.
"CAN IT BE THAT
EASY?" Mina finds herself drawn back to Carfax by the pull of Dracula.
Dracula puts her in a trance. Circling her like an animal and it's
prey Dracula describes how he will take Mina to be with him for
eternity. LYRICS
"POISON" Dracula.
The time has come - bite Mina for the third time condemning her to share the same living hell or sacrifice his own life so she may live. LYRICS
"PRECIOUS
LIFE" - Jonathan and Mina.
Mina confesses to Jonathan that she is in love with Dracula. LYRICS
"ETERNITY" - Mina and Dracula.
His love for her will not allow him to turn her into an animal like himself. But, he can not die at his own hand. If she loves him she will use his sword to free him. LYRICS
"WITH LIGHT UPON MY FACE" - Mina
The rays of the morning
sun stream through the gothic windows. Mina is kneeling with Dracula's withering
body held tightly in her arms. LYRICS

CAN IT BE THAT
EASY
DRACULA (circling Mina)
You must choose your path. You have already been bitten twice - but it is not too late to return to your other life. Thrice bitten, you will die. But if we share blood, we will be one. We will live forever.
Addressing the picture of Helene.
Do my eyes deceive me? Can it be that easy?
Is my torment soon to be rewarded with your love?
Like a glowing ember, I can still remember
how our passion burned so strong yet lived so short a time.
Have you returned to haunt me,
to simply tease and taunt me?
If so my heart is yours to feed your lust for blood.
You once left me broken, vows of vengeance spoken.
So I chose my fate and yet through all I can't escape that I have
never stopped loving you.
Again circling Mina.
As the wheel keeps turning, so my soul keeps burning
Let this latest twist of fate be one more cruel jest.
If we be together, let it be forever.
We shall go as one to face our greatest final test.
I would have died to save her, torn out my eyes to raise her.
Yet my reward was only loneliness and pain.
Do I not deserve you? Heaven won't preserve you.
Now your fate is mine you will, like me, be damned in time
and we will live once again as one.
Sensuously touching frozen Mina's hair, face, neck.
I will possess you. Hold, and caress you
for I have been patient too long.
I can but charm you, slowly disarm you.
Soon all your fears will be gone.
And so together we will be, if need through all eternity.
We both shall share the living hell which has been mine.
A wave of his hand revives her.
But when I take you. I will slowly take you.
All of my pain you can end.
And I will not be cheated again.
No!, my heart won't be broken again.
She closes her eyes, exposes her neck.
He kisses her, then works his way down to her neck and then pulls away, he
has heard a noise.

Sangerand eternitate, a blood-stained eternity...
[spoken becoming angry]
It is what we all deserve, is it not?
What reason have I to spare her?
When she flew from me all those years ago?
[Sung:]
Conscience is not my weakness
Fate dictated what I do
My path winds through infernal destiny
I will not alter it to spare you
VOICES
Endless condemnation
She dies without salvation
DRACULA
I am not the devil! I am the victim! And I will have her!!!
VOICES
Endless condemnation
No hope of salvation
DRACULA
Angel whose wings fly closer
To impure ecstasy
Drunk now with bitter sweetness
Her lips will cling to me
Blood lust will send us soaring
Into infinity
With cruel hearts adoring
This spell will set us free.

Your path will bring her sorrow
DRACULA (spoken)
I will not have my one measure of happiness taken from me !
I regret nothing' I shall have her with me!
[Suddenly the painting seems to come to life, Helene]
HELENE'S VOICE
Dear love now hear my voice...
DRACULA (spoken)
Helene!
HELENE
You must forgive the past
You must free your love
Of or this black hell will last.
DRACULA (conflicted, tortured)
Helene what is the answer?
I can't live without her but my love destroys her!
Craving the ruby flower
Unceasing urge to feed
I have but one more hour
Before her blood I'll need.
Lost now, falling faster
Into infernal night
Poison sleep awaits her
With that one final bite.
[Spoken]
How can I condemn my love to the fire of rage and blood?
No Mina! I cannot !
[Fast section]
I cannot take her
She did not bring her soul to sell
And if I die now
This living hell would die as well
A grim and deadly bridegroom who
Can only ask his love
Share my bed of coldest earth
Our love is sterile at its birth.
I wait for daylight
It is with broken heart I serve,
The beast shall die here
And I shall seek what I deserve
To slay this brutal power
End my life within this hour
I will beg her now to kill
Destroy her love against her will

And so it is I save the one I love.

This precious life has been ripped from me
I saw it all too late
A cruel demon steals you from me
And deals a hollow fate

MINA

I am free, for the poison has begun to grow
A stunning transformation is mine
Shining and whole

I could never end what has not yet begun

threshold of all I desire, how can it end?

Centuries of cursed prayers unanswered
Radiant as stars
of heaven, you have given me
A benediction
[Dracula removes his cape from Mina and puts it on.]
Cruel God or kind,
the light of your existence shows me truth
Our love would wither in the dark,
So send me from you now, and I will find you
BOTH
I will not forsake a passion transcending time
What lies beyond, is clouded from view
Will we meet or will we melt into a blend of souls?
Ever at peace, always at rest, ever as one,
always as one, Eternity, Eternity, Eternity.
MINA
Sleep alone, remember me as darkness falls
Now I see the light, it burns my eyes
My dear, the path I've chosen leaves me cold and still
I know there is a sky above
You've saved my life with love
I am a soul with light upon my face
On the wings of blessed winds I send you home
And I am Center with little more to do
Than count each hour until I meet you once again

The circle is complete,
Like silver doves, this blade has brought you peace
[Slowly Lucy and Jonathan come back on stage followed by the rest
of the cast creating a background harmony for the final verse.]
