DRACUL - The Dracula Musical, is a
passionate Eternal Love Story based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Unlike other stage plays,
DRACUL portrays the supernatural Count Vlad de Dracul as tired and
angry from the centuries of being cursed to exist like a blood thirsty animal.
His heart broken by the useless and violent death of his beloved wife Helene,
500 years prior. His existence changes dramatically when he finds Mina Murray,
the re-incarnation of his Helene.
“DRACUL,”
the stage musical, first opened on August 5, 1995 at the San Diego Repertory
Theatre’s Lyceum Stage in San Diego,
California. An immediate
following developed, and after numerous requests, a CD of the music was
produced and sold. Word of mouth spread, and soon CD’s were being shipped to
new audiences all over the world.
The original “Music of DRACUL “ CD included a
small picture book and a synopsis of the production. It was our intent to
provide those who hadn’t seen DRACUL, an opportunity to acquire a “look and
feel” for the production. In response to the CD we received hundreds of inquires,
from people around the world asking either; “When will DRACUL be coming
to our town?” or “Is a video available?” Lacking the resources to mount a world
tour, our response was a new multimedia product consisting of a novel, adapted
from the stage script, combined with the actual lyrics and music on a fully
orchestrated CD. We named this combination the “Musical Novel.”
The objective of our Musical Novel is to bestow
to its audience, wherever they may be, a morsel of the incredible intimacy and
excitement provided by live musical theatre. So, yes, we are now able to expose
people anywhere in the world to our musical.
We acknowledge the limitations of the Musical Novel,
but hope that by combining the sensory experience of recorded music, the
intensity of the written word and the imagery that can be forged by the human
mind, we just may have opened the door to a new venue for the musical.
Contains 19 songs direct from the stage production. Features
Broadway (Cyrano) and recording artist (Les Miserables) Jordan
Bennett as Count Vlad deDracul and includes
Danielle Forsgren repeating her
EMMY Awards performance of Splendid
. Inside the CD cover is a musical synopsis
booklet.
