Based on Bram Stoker's Dracula
| DRACUL - The Dracula Musical, is a
passionate love story based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Unlike other stage
plays, DRACUL portrays the supernatural Count Vlad de Dracul as
tired and angry from the centuries of being cursed to exist like a blood
thirsty animal. His heart broken by the useless and violent death of
his beloved wife Helene, 500 years prior, his existence changes dramatically
when he finds Mina Murray, the re-incarnation of his Helene. |
The world premiere of DRACUL took place
in July `95 at the San Diego Repertory's Lyceum Theatre. The critics
reported:
"it's delicious. Romantic and sexy
...
destined for success"
- Public Broadcasting System
"deserves notice...
a very bright future indeed. "
- Los Angeles Times
"Phantom of the Opera territory,
with real erotic tingles"
- San Diego Union-Tribune
"destined to make entertainment
history"
- Visions Magazine
"traditional Dracula that really
works as a musical"
- The Daily Californian
"sends the stage spinning with
color and intrigue"
- The San Diego Reader
Music Review
| The Music of DRACUL - DAT Records
"I was glad to find that The Music of DRACUL has
already been brought out on CD. The music, by Kerry Michael Warren, is given
an excellent rendering by Peter Robberecht. There is some superb singing
by Jordan Bennett as the Count, Danielle Forsgren (she is fabulous, I love
her !) as Lucy, Karen Olson Pierce as Mina. Bryan Feldman and Ed Badrak do
all the remaining characters: Jonathan, Renfield, Dr. Seward and Van Helsing.
Colana Gunsolus and Ellen Zolezzi are in charge of the backing vocals. It's
a great CD. I am ever so glad I got myself a copy and it has been on constant
replay ever since I got it. "
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! Rob Brautigam - Amsterdam, The Netherlands -
